- Abstract
Typhoid enteric fever is a bacterial infection transmitted by faecal--oral route exclusively through human hosts. Gut perforation is a potentially lethal complication associated with an inflammatory response at Peyer's patches Definitive diagnosis requires successful culture from blood, stool, skin, or other infected site. Prompt antibiotic therapy reduces mortality. Typhoid intestinal perforation is a surgical emergency that is potentially fatal, with children accounting for more than half of cases.
