- Abstract
In the formal educational space of Vocational and Technological Education (EPT) Integrated High School, sociology was constituted as a school subject and its contributions in the historical effort for a public and free education, with qualitative requirements for a consolidated formation in the critical understanding of society, work, and its contradictions. The reduction of the workload or the non-mandatory offer of Sociology, with the changes proposed by the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC), enunciates the neoliberal proposal for education. This research reiterates the importance of the Sociology subject as necessary in basic education, given that the construction of sociological knowledge allows students to have an integral formation. Therefore, find ways to overcome the contradictions of Brazilian society that exclude young people from accessing humanizing integrated secondary education.
