- Abstract
This article proposes to problematize Professional and Technological Education in contemporary Brazil, highlighting its employability markers, since its founding discourse is based on the ideology of guaranteeing the employability of its graduates. The institutionalization of neoliberal policies stands out in the understanding of the theme, which provided in the ideas and marketing purposes a reconfiguration of Professional and Technological Education in Brazil, marked by law and guiding decrees. Discussions about the courses to be offered in this training modality brought defenses and criticisms about the shorter duration and the emphasis on the practicality of the training profile. The discussions and analyzes developed are based on two doctoral theses in education from the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás, entitled 'Technological Education and employability: revelations of graduates' (FERNANDES, 2012) and 'The institutionalization of neoliberal policies in the reconfiguration of education professional in Brazil: from Decree No. 2,208/97 to Law No. 11,892/08' (OLIVEIRA, 2014). Both have as a historical and political reference, the technological education implemented by Decree n° 2.208/1997, with the Professional Education Reform, and its employability markers. Three moments are articulated in the development of the exposition of these reflections: an introduction that outlines the theoretical-historical features of the theme; problematization of the configuration of professional education within the framework of international financial determinations; and the questioning of the reach of the propagandist discourse of technological courses expressed by the guarantee of employability, from the manifestations of graduates of a technological course taught by an Federal Institute located in Urutaí, in the interior of the Goias state. The portraits revealed and understood indicate caution in the absolute affirmation of guaranteed employability, considering that access to work is not restricted to the nature of training courses, but to other elements that the labor market in constant changes defines as criteria for access and stay in the world of work.
