- Abstract
The article focuses on the sermon Sermo 122 by Saint Augustine of Hippo. It provides a background of the sermon which is reportedly complicated due to the high level of allegory. It examines the sermon's argumentative flow, the logic behind the allegorical moves as well as their meaning and historical background. It also tackles the sermon in the context of Augustine's views on grace and sin.
