- Abstract
The productive behavior of dual purpose livestock was evaluated in an Intensive Silvopastoral System (iSPS) in Apatzingán, Michoacan, Mexico. Through technical-economic tracing, productive and economic variables (forage intake, milk production, body weight, incomes and costs) were monitored in 60 Gyr cows, and analyzed by descriptive statistics and activity estimation. The livestock load used was 2.06 AU ha-1 and the milk production obtained was 9.15 kg cow-1 day-1 . The income obtained was $1 495 225.15, food costs was $406 042 43 and gross margin was $1 089 182.71 year-1. It is concluded that the management of Gyr cows in an SSPi favors the milk and meat production and incomes to the Production Unit (PU).
