- Authors
Thornley, Davinia
- Abstract
The article presents a critique of the film "The Piano," directed by Jane Campion. The author shows how Ada's body, the main cast of the film, forms a representative location for the intersection of contemporary issues regarding gender, race and nationalistic identity by examining selected reviews and scholarly articles about the film, imperialist and colonial theories, and interviews with the director. He also discusses various theories regarding colonial and feminist themes in the film, including the production notes from the film's release.
