A biography of Jewish Czech painter Georges Kars is presented. Kars was born near Prague, Czech Republic, in 1880 and eventually studied painting with artist Franz Stuck. He was influenced by Impressionism and came to settle in Paris, France, in 1908. Kars would later develop a Neo-Classicist and Sensualist style. He returned to Prague after the onset of the Spanish Civil War, and would later settle in Switzerland as Nazi Germany occupied much of Europe.
