- Abstract
The article discusses the study on Ophidian paramyxovirus (OPMV) which was found in Brazilian vipers. OPMV was first distinguished in Fer de Lance snakes on a snake farm in Zurich, Switzerland where an outbreak of respiratory problems has occurred. OPMV is a spheroid or filamentous particle which is enclosed in a unit membrane envelope studded with spikes. Such virus can duplicate in most common reptilian and mammalian cell cultures. They can also clump together in chicken erythrocytes.
