- Abstract
The article "Opal with Epidote Inclusions from Madagascar" discusses the discovery of opal with epidote inclusions in the Antsirabe region of Madagascar. The stones were mined from an open-pit quarry in the Vangaindrano area and subsequently cut into faceted stones and cabochons. Gemmological properties, such as color, pleochroism, polish lustre, and diaphaneity, were examined and found to be consistent with opal for the white matrix and epidote for the dark greenish brown inclusions. The article concludes that the combination of opal and epidote in this gemstone makes it an interesting addition to the gem market.
