- Abstract
We appreciate the thoughtful response to our recent manuscript.[1] In our report, we present data demonstrating that desaturations during sleep increased the likelihood of post-operative respiratory events in patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In the United States, approximately 289,000 tonsillectomies are performed in patients <15 years old.[2] Admission of every patient after tonsillectomy would strain already limited hospital resources.
