- Abstract
An essay is presented on Scottish broadside ballads of the 17th and 18th centuries. It examines the production of broadside ballads by presses in Edinburgh, Scotland and their significance on the culture of lowland Scotland. It also compares and contrasts Scottish broadside ballads with ballads being produced in London, England. The author also discusses the significance of the production of the ballads upon the development of the Scottish publishing industry.
