- Abstract
The article examines the association of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with various clinical infections. It notes that various research are linking variation in LAB with a variety of disease states, including obesity and diabetes. A study on the incidence of clinical infections due to LAB at Belfast City Hospital in Northern Ireland showed that LAB was involved in a small number of cases of bacteraemia over a 10 year period.
