- Title
Patent payouts could damage UK industry.
- Authors
Johnson, Alan
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses the court case wherein two GE Healthcare researchers awarded a substantial sum for their part in a single patent, the UK Patents Act 1977, in Great Britain. He argues that the country's patent law changes may increase future claims and should be resisted by the industry. He points out that the court's decision deals with the law as it is applicable in the case. He considers the invention to be the outstanding benefit rather than the patent.
