- Title
Thirtieth Anniversary of the Three Mile Island Accident.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the 30th year anniversary of the Three Mile Island (TMI) accident in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It took place on March 28, 1979 wherein malfunctions of equipment, design-related problems and worker errors resulted to the partial meltdown of the facility's 2's reactor core and the released of a very small amount of radioactivity to the environment. Studies are done by various institutions to assess the adverse effects of the incident and researchers found that despite the serious damage to the reactor, majority of the radiation is contained on the facility and the hazardous waste released had only negligible effects to the environment and the health of individuals.
