- Authors
Rizzolo, Denise; Sedrak, Mona; Boardman, Mark; Chiodo, Thomas A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the gravity of oral health care among pregnant women, denying the myths about adversities of dental treatment in pregnant women. It highlights the chances of oral diseases in pregnancy such as pyoqenic granuloma (PG), gingivitis and periodontitis; risks for underweight births from periodontal disease; and Streptococcus mutans infection in newborns from nursing mothers. It suggests that care providers should inform women about the pros of oral care in pregnancy.
