- Abstract
The study evaluates the impact crop diversification in the upper zone of Krishna never basin with special reference to kand taluke. Emigration cropping pattern, input costs size of land herding and technology are some of the important parameter considered in the study to understand agricultural productivity of the interviews 120 farmers of which 72% farmers are small and marginal farmers, whereas only 28% of farmers hold land above 5 acres. The average land holding in the region is 4.42% acres, overall skewed distribution of land holding is observed in the Upper Krishna River Basin. The Herfindahl Index is used to estimate agricultural diversification is found to be 0.87 in the region indicative of a nonocorp culture which's sugercane. The per capita income in the sample study was ₹ 42,207.46. much higher than the national average, 96.7% farmers use organic fertilizers estimated for the year 2010-11. Cost of cultivation, ploughing, fertilizers, pestisides continue to guide crop selection and hence incomes in the region.
