- Abstract
This article aims at providing insights into the adoption of lean management practices among French industrial companies. Using a survey administrated on May 2006 on a sample of 162 companies, we show that a majority of companies claims to pursue goals of reducing their inventories, improving the quality of their production and optimizing their labor cost. In this perspective, these companies prefer some solutions based on the improvement of their management and control systems rather than solutions based on the direct improvement of operational parameters. We also note that companies in the automotive industry are more involved in the path of lean management. We finally show that the maturity of lean companies significantly depends on the level of the manager's implication.
