- Abstract
The article discusses the marine heat wave in the Houtman Abrolhos Islands, Western Australia (WA). It states that the heat wave was driven by strong La Nina conditions which has increased the poleward flow of warm water on the coastline of WA. It cites that the temperature of Houtman Abrolhos Islands has peaked at 28 degrees Celsius higher than the long-term monthly mean surveys of coral reefs and kelp beds. It also mentions that the island represents a temperate-tropical transition zone.
