- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between democracy and dissent in American history as of July 2012, focusing on an analysis of the republican democracy theory and a transformation of the democratic government in the U.S. during the 1930s. Pluralist democracy theory is addressed in regards to the theories of political philosophers Leo Strauss, Hannah Arendt, and Eric Voegelin. U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal social plan are also examined.
