- Abstract
The article considers the iconography of the Wandering Ascetics, concentrating on details from the ‘Representations of the Parinirvāṇa Cycle in the Art of Gandhara and Kucha'. it mentions the literary tradition regarding Buddha's last journey, his death, and the sharing of the relics between different countries is very old and had already been extended in ancient times; and also mentions the largest number of representations of the parinirvāṇa cycle come from Gandhara.
