- Abstract
Objective To study the influence of adenosylmethionine on liver function and pregnancy outcome in patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP). Methods Totally 114 patients with ICP in our hospital from May 2014 to April 2017 were selected and randomly divided into experiment group and control group,57 cases in each group. All patients were given conventional therapy; besides, patients in control group and observation group received ursodeoxycholic acid and adenosylmethionine, respectively. All patients were treated for 20 d. The improvement of pruritus symptoms, liver function index, expression of IκB-α and NF-κB in the placenta before and after treatment of the 2 groups were compared, and the pregnancy outcomes and Apgar scores of neonatal baby of the 2 groups were also compared. Results After treatment, the scores of distribution of pruritus, severity degree, frequency of seizures and sleep disturbance and the levels of serum TBIL,DBIL,TBA, ALT, AST and ALP of the patients were decreased in both groups (P <0. 05 or P <0. 01) ,and those in experiment group was lower (P <0. 05 or P <0. 01) ; after treatment, the expression of IκB-α in placenta of patients was increased, while the expression of NF-kB was decreased, and there were significant differences between the two groups (P <0. 01). The incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes in experiment group was lower than that in control group, while the Apgar score of neonatal baby in experiment group was higher (P <0. 01). Conclusion Conventional therapy combined with adenosylmethionine can improve the imbalance of NF-κB/ IκB-α expression in placenta of ICP patients significantly, relieve the symptoms of pruritus, improve liver function, and reduce the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes.
