- Abstract
Creativity as a training goal occupies a preponderant place at the level of Colombian educational policies. However, in educational practice many shortcomings are observed in terms of its effective promotion in students. Considering the above, the present paper was aimed at studying creativity and its relationship with socio-educational variables in a sample of high school students. The method employed was aquantitative, non-experimental, descriptive correlational, cross-sectional study, in which was involved 970 high school students from 9 public and private schools, using the pic-j test and the sociodemographic survey designed ad-hoc for the present study. The results indicate that low socioeconomic status, public school, traditional model and low academic score increase the risk of having low creativity. However, adjusting the joint action of these four previous variables, it is observed that the type of school and stratum cease to be significant, the traditional pedagogical model becomes the protective factor in conditions of public education and low academic score appears as a most important risk factor. Therefore, it is concluded that the joint action of socio-educational variables can contribute differently to foster creativity in students in different educational contexts. Additionally, the importance of designing pedagogical strategies that consider the particularities of educational environments and conditions in different socio-educational contexts is discussed.
