- Abstract
This paper aims at exploring portrayal i.e., editorial treatment of war on terror by daily Nation and daily Times of India. The study's main rationale was to bring to light and explore the treatment of this issue of war on terror by the two newspapers of neighbouring countries Pakistan and India. The war on terror was further divided into five main categories including Pakistan, India, Al-Qaeda, Afghan Taliban and Kashmiri Militant Organizations (KMOs). Time period of this study is from 12th September 2001 to 31st December 2008. Purposive sampling technique is used to draw the sample from entire population. Total number of editorials given by daily Nation and daily Times of India were 197 and 145 on the issue of war on terror. We have employed Pearson's Chi-square test and the Likelihood Ratio test to test the association between the type of newspaper and their portrayal, in terms of favourable, unfavourable & neutral, towards the issue of war on terror. The results show that there is significant association at 10% level of significance as the p-value (0.075) depicted in table 4 is less than the pre-selected level of significance
