- Abstract
The article presents scanning electron microscopic studies of the marginal fit of three esthetic crowns. This study was carried out to record the extremes of marginal discrepancy and surface deformities of metal-ceramic, collarless, and cerestore complete crowns. It was revealed by scanning electron microscopic studies that the marginal configuration of crowns is more irregular and uneven than normal microscopic studies have indicated. The mean marginal opening for cerestore crowns, metal-ceramic crowns, and collarless crowns was 75, 65, and 95 μm respectively. The scans obtained show that both metal and ceramic margins have pits, craters and other microporosities.
