- Abstract
The article offers information on the alteration of maxillary complete denture in managing unilateral facial paralysis. It is stated that the prosthetic treatment for facial paralysis is rare and some reports regarding the treatment of facial paralysis is given. In one of the reports, a maxillary removable partial denture was adjusted with buccal retentive mesh to raise the vestibule and cheek. A case report of a 78-year old patient exhibiting facial assymetry due to paralysis of muscles on his right side is presented. It is stated that fabrication of mandibular and maxillary complete dentures with an additional lip and cheek support were suggested to help the patient. The prosthodontic technique used in denture fabrication changed the patient's appearance dramatically.
