- Abstract
The article discusses the occurrence and treatment of cracked teeth based on a nine-year-study from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, the Watts Health Clinic and private practice. Tooth structure crack is described as a line that breaks or splits the continuity of tooth dental surface which cannot be wedged or separated apart. In a clinical survey involving 120 instances of symptomatic cracked teeth, only 16 teeth have been extracted due to treatment failure. It also pointed that the mandibular first and second molars and maxillary premolars and second molars are most often affected. It was also found that cracks mostly extend in a mesiodistal, buccolingual or distolingual direction.
