- Abstract
The article "The Fight is Not Yet Lost: Climate Protests as Radical Democratic Practice" discusses the legitimacy of climate protests from a radical democratic perspective. It emphasizes that the right to protest is an essential part of democracy as long as the protest is based on democratic values. The article analyzes climate protests from a radical democratic perspective and highlights the productivity of protests and forms of civil disobedience in drawing attention to legislative changes. The climate movement has grown in size and intensity in recent years, particularly through the movements Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion. The demands of the climate justice movement include adherence to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and the expansion of renewable energy sources. Protests are seen as an expression of the conflictual nature of politics and require a radical understanding of democracy. Climate protests can contribute to changing the institutional status quo and initiating legal changes in favor of climate protection.
