- Abstract
Quality assurance and improving standards of care for children and young people are key components of everyday practice for children's nurses. Reflective practice has long been accepted as a pivotal way of developing and enhancing nursing care, not least palliative care. When caring for children and families in this situation, practitioners rely heavily on their professional judgement and prior experience because of the dearth of research. Therefore, reflective practice and critical thinking are essential to meet the requirements of the clinical governance agenda.
