- Abstract
Within the cohort, 275 SOT recipients with a mean age of 10.2 years (±0.3) were either at moderate (CMV R+) or high risk (CMV D +/R-) for CMV infection/disease and received valGCV prophylaxis. Given the association of dose reduction with overall CMV DNAemia occurrence and the relatively small number of post-dose adjustment breakthrough infections while receiving prophylaxis, it is possible that valGCV dose adjustment impacted post-prophylaxis CMV DNAemia. In addition, 4 (1%) patients developed CMV antiviral resistance while receiving valGCV prophylaxis; 50% had a prior valGCV dose adjustment. "Weight-ing" for an answer on optimal valganciclovir prophylaxis dosing in pediatric solid organ transplantation recipients.
