- Abstract
This article discusses the differences in clinical presentations between pediatric-onset and adult-onset thyroid eye disease (TED). The study, conducted in an ethnic Han Chinese TED cohort, found that pediatric patients with TED generally had milder disease activity and severity compared to adult patients. Pediatric patients were more likely to present bilaterally and had lower clinical activity scores, minimal extraocular motility restriction, and less diplopia. The study also found that pediatric patients had elevated levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody and thyroid peroxidase antibody. Further research is needed to explore the prevalence and clinical manifestations of pediatric-onset TED in different ethnic groups.
