- Abstract
Xishuangbanna is a multinational region and different ethnic groups have self-owned traditional ways of protecting biodiversity, represented by Dragon Mountain and Hill Cemetery, and Temple Forest. As population increases and economy develops, people's consciousness of traditional culture is fading and both of the number and area of sacred natural sites underwent changes, undermining the role of sacred natural sites playing in biodiversity protection, especially for species protection and gene exchange.
