- Abstract
This article examines the relationship between weight and the development of retinopathy in individuals with type 1 diabetes. The study, conducted in Sweden, found that individuals with overweight or obesity have an increased risk of retinopathy, regardless of subsequent weight changes. However, after adjusting for other factors, the increased risk associated with a history of overweight or obesity was no longer significant. The study emphasizes the importance of weight management programs for individuals with type 1 diabetes to reduce the risk of retinopathy.
