- Authors
McGuire, Amy L.; Burke, Wylie
- Abstract
The authors express their opinion that patient concerns about direct-to-consumer genome testing could strain health care resources. They cite the competing demands faced by primary care physicians. The unproven clinical value of the tests is addressed. The potential harm from unnecessary or unproven health care is discussed. The authors discuss premarket review of tests and issues regarding genomic risk information. They explain that there is no information on the outcomes of testing.
