- Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the impact of orthognathic surgery on quality of life in dentofacial deformities, comparing it with the surgical time and type of malocclusion. Material and methods: From August to September 2020, 249 participants completed the quality of life protocol (WHOQOL-bref) consisting of 26 items divided into four domains (physical, psychological, social relations and environment) in addition to the global score. The analysis was performed using the two-way Anova test, considering a significance level of 5%. Results: The most reported complaint was related to aesthetics (54.3%). There was an increase in quality of life after orthognathic surgery for all domains. Considering the type of malocclusion, participants with class III showing greater impact on quality of life. Conclusion: there was an increase in the quality of life in the post-surgery period, mainly in the physical aspects and, considering the type of malocclusion, class III subjects showed greater gain in quality of life.
