- Abstract
This article compares the influence of an employer's cooperative governance on its HR attractiveness across cultural areas. Our research with 1014 individuals on four continents shows that while the perception of the cooperative purpose and principles - defined by the International Cooperative Alliance - positively influences the attractiveness of cooperatives as employers, the weight of each of these aspects depends on the context highlighting the lack of universalism. In developed regions, cooperative employers are valued according to a logic of redistribution of the wealth created. In emerging economies, this valuation follows a logic of access to democracy and, in particular, access to markets on the African continent.
