- Abstract
Although, caring for a sick relative produces satisfaction and often increases the sense of life and spirituality of primary caregivers, it can also cause serious damage to their quality of life. The objective of the study is to identify the main effects on the quality of life of primary caregivers of women with breast cancer who are treated at a health institution in Barranquilla, Colombia. It was a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study that included 72 primary caregivers by probabilistic sampling. The Quality of Life and Satisfaction Scale for Caregivers was used (ECVS-FC), the data collected was processed through descriptive statistics. The results showed that the most affected dimensions in the primary caregivers were: physical appearance, emotions / behavior, symptomatology, self-care, rest / sleep, life project, social relations and satisfaction with the received preparation, that the caregivers were in their most of them were women who took care of their mothers or sisters in their own home and who had affectations in some dimensions of their quality of life as well as satisfaction with the preparation received to take care of their family member.
