- Abstract
In a clinical context, emojis have been shown to be significantly associated with validated measures in assessing patient-reported outcomes in patients with cancer.[5] We concur with Moisset and colleagues that no study has been published comparing the emoji pain scale with the Wong-Baker Faces Pain Scale or the FPS-R. However, because our study[1] demonstrated a high level of concordance between the emoji scale and the NRS, we believe this demonstrates the validity of the emoji scale to assess pain perceptions. An Emoji-Based Visual Analog Scale Compared With a Numeric Rating Scale for Pain Assessment - Reply Comment & Response B In Reply b Dr Moisset and colleagues call attention to considerations regarding the use in our recent study[1] of an emoji-based VAS in an adult population.
