- Abstract
The article discusses a study on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) that occurs in patients taking anticoagulant heparin which are used to treat clotting disorders and prevent blood clots. Topics discussed include symptoms of HIT which include deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, use of clinical assessments and blood testing in order to diagnose HIT, and effect of heparins in causing drug allergies.
