- Authors
Kahn, Noah
- Abstract
The article looks at the challenges within the developments in healthcare construction. Affecting construction projects in the sector are economic issues, uncertainty about healthcare reform, the need to promote sustainability, innovative financing, and architectural concerns. Cited are examples of these pressures, including the shift of architects from two-dimensional computer-aided design and drafting to three-dimensional modeling or building information models that demand new skills and a new partnership with contractors. With this, healthcare leaders are resorting to metrics and benchmarking to manage costs and risks. Information about the content of the issue and the contributors are also included.
