- Abstract
This research addresses the issue organizational culture and change in business processes of incorporation, focusing on its social implications. The objective is to identify the cultural reactions of acceptance and / or resistance of the back office staff of the South Bank, in relation to the Northern Bank acquisition process, conducted by the company in 2009. The research approach is qualitative, using the case study method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews were recorded, transcribed and then categorized and analyzed, according to the discourse analysis technique. On the results, one can identify both elements of acceptance and resistance of officials to the North Bank acquisition process, given the moments of uncertainty experienced by them early in the process and the clash of cultures of the two companies. However, despite the uncertainties, the employees surveyed, for having remained in the same functions they had in the acquired institution, did not suffer both the impacts of purchase. It can be concluded that culture is a multifaceted phenomenon, difficult to interpret and formed by conflicts, disagreements, differences, conflicts and integration elements.
