- Abstract
There’s a community known as “Sheikh Hasanlılar” liing in the Eastern Anatolia part ofTurkey in the cities Malatya, Tunceli, Erzincan, Sias, Gümüşhane, Erzurum, Bingöl andMuş. People think that this community is from the single root but has come from two main branches. One of this branch of the community is from the Ehlibeyt. That means after the massacre of Imam Hüseyin in Kerbela they came to get him from the descendants of the suriing son, Zeynel Abidin who is the son of Fatima (daughter of Prophet Muhammad)and Prophet Ali. The community who is from this branch is called “Dede (Grandpa) SheikhHasanlılar”. They are the Alei faith leaders and they faith to the leadership of a widespread community. The first leaders of the arm who came to Anatolia are Sheikh Hasan and SheikaAhmed brothers. The second arm of Sheikh Hasanlılar are essentially Mongolian in origin and they speak different languages. Being under the influence of the dominant culture insome places they speak Kurdish, in some places Zaza and some places Turkish. They arecalled “The Tribes of Sheikh Hasanlılar”. Today the number of the Tribal Sheikh Hasanlılarare two hundred thousand. Here in this article we examine Sheikh Hasanlılar who come from the two branches (two different roots) and we try to contribute to the elimination of incorrect perception and information about them.
