- Authors
Furlich, Stephen A.
- Abstract
This quantitative study compares relationships between instructor verbal immediacy behaviors and student motivation to learn at a research university and community college. Linear regression analyses indicated a significant relationship between instructor verbal immediacy and student motivation to learn only for the research university. Slope differences of instructor verbal immediacy and student motivation to learn were found between the research university and community college. The results are discussed and implications are given for instructors and administrators. Future researchers are encouraged to further investigate relationships between instructor verbal immediacy behaviors and student motivation to learn at different higher education institutions.
