- Abstract
The article focuses on the structures and ornamentations of the three Mongolian ceremonial helmets collection in the State Hermitage Museum in Russia. It says that helmets serve as protective gears for warriors and as a distinctive symbol of status and military order affiliation of the owner. It cites the "box-like" visor in the sphero-conical helmet (inventory N 3657), the "box-like" visor and hemispherical top in the solid-forged helmets (inventory N 1274), and the conical dome in the third helmet (inventory N 2748). It also presents the function, dating, and cultural attribution of the three helmets. It further relates the helmets in studying the warfare and military hierarchy in Mongolia.
