- Abstract
The article focuses on the image of female spirit-guardian Vut imi of the Kazym Khants people who inhabit the basin of the Kazym River at Beloyaeski region in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region, Russia. It discusses the description of the image of the spirit-guardian figurine, which consists of a 60 cm long wooden frame, textile shawls, and metal decoration pieces including zoomorphic pendants of cast bronze. It highlights the five silver plates decorated on the figurine which can be dated back from the 15th-17th centuries as well as the six Russian plates which were produced in Tobolsk or other regions of Western Siberia. It explores the twig framework and the set of plate-diadems ornamenting the of the Vut imi, which were said to have been made to look like metal ones.
