- Abstract
We are grateful to Eksteen et al. for their valuable comments to our paper [[1]] and agree with them that there is an essential need for more researches to evaluate selenium levels before and after bariatric surgical procedures that may change the universal or local guidelines for prevention and treatment of selenium deficiency in patients with severe obesity [[2]]. In addition, the mechanism of selenium deficiency may be different in various bariatric surgical procedures [[4]] that may influence the type and amount of selenium supplementation.
