- Abstract
The contributions of Indian chemists towards the development of name reactions and catalysts have once again been in the limelight since the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2021 was awarded to Benjamin List and David W. C. MacMillan for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis—a precise tool for molecular construction [1]. This critical contribution was ordained to transmute science and encourage genius minds to invest their works in numerous acreage. Here, we highlight the pivotal role played by Indian chemists in advancing the field of modern chemistry through their contributions of name reactions and catalysts. These notable contributions, we believe, will inspire generations of scientists to dedicate their efforts to a multitude of domains of science in general, chemistry in particular.
