- Abstract
The article presents a science experiment to help students determine birefringence of mica using a quarter wave plate and a laser source. A list of materials is provided which include a mica sheet, two polaroids mounted on a circular graduated scale, laser, and a quarter wave plate. Also indicated is the formula in measuring the rotation produced by the mica sheet of a given thickness, along with specific procedures and discussion topics.
