The Pregnant Man.
- Authors
Halberstam, Judith
- Abstract
This article discusses how photographs of the pregnancy of transgendered man Thomas Beatie focused public attention on transgender issues. The author suggests that Beatie publicized his pregnancy through photographs and appearances on television programs to achieve fame and that Beatie has aided the public acceptance of nontraditional families. She comments that Beatie's attempts to raise a family outwardly conformed to public perceptions of gender and family.
