- Abstract
The article attempts to identify the ethics of using placebos for diagnosis and treatment in clinical practice. It presents a case study of a patient with allergies and allergy-induced asthma. Several questions for the case were raised including the ethics of using placebo, truth-telling to patients, the physician assistant-patient relationship, trust and the medical goals consistent with prescribing a placebo.
