- Abstract
The article offers information on the effectiveness of drug-eluting stents (DES) in treating patients with coronary heart disease. It notes that proper patient selection decreases risk of in-stent thrombosis. It states that the most appropriate patients to receive a DES are those with symptomatic coronary heart disease. Moreover, it suggests that dual antiplatelet therapy (DAT) that consists of aspirin and a thienopyridine is required in order to prevent restenosis after implantation of a DES.
